Privacy Policy
This policy describes information SkyView may process when you use this website. It should be reviewed against the live deployment and its enabled integrations before being treated as a complete legal disclosure.
Information we process
SkyView displays maps, environmental observations, field data, photographs, and related records. When you browse the site, our hosting infrastructure may process your IP address, request details, device/browser information, and timestamps for delivery, security, and troubleshooting.
Location information
The Field map can use your device location when you grant browser permission. Your browser controls that permission. Location is used to show nearby map and environmental information; some requests may send coordinates or a surrounding geographic area to SkyView or data providers to retrieve nearby results. This policy does not claim that location is never logged or retained, and it does not authorize collection beyond what the service needs. You can deny or revoke permission in your browser.
Accounts and submissions
If you sign in or submit content, SkyView may process account identifiers, authentication/session information, uploaded files, embedded file metadata (including GPS and capture time), and administrative or security audit events. Publicly published artifacts may expose location or metadata according to their visibility and location-precision settings.
Cookies
SkyView uses a session cookie for sign-in and security features. Its cookie settings include Secure (on HTTPS), HttpOnly, and SameSite=Lax. Browser storage or cookies from embedded or third-party services may be governed by those providers.
External services
Map tiles, weather, geography, and other data can come from external providers. Depending on the feature, your browser may connect directly to a provider, or SkyView may make the request on your behalf. Providers may receive information needed to fulfill the request, such as IP address, location or map extent, and browser/request metadata. How information is used
Information is used to operate the site, provide requested features, manage accounts and uploads, maintain source provenance and audit trails, investigate abuse, and protect the service. We do not claim that third-party services follow SkyView's retention practices.
Retention and security
Retention depends on the record type and operational requirements. Published artifacts and provenance records can be retained long term; operational logs, audit records, and backups may have different retention periods. Access controls and other safeguards help protect nonpublic information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and requests
You may withhold browser location permission and avoid signing in or submitting content. To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, contact the SkyView site operator using the contact method published on the website. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, or evidentiary reasons.
Payments
If paid downloads or donations are enabled, checkout will be handled by the identified payment processor. Payment details and related records will be governed by the processor's privacy notice as well as SkyView's applicable transaction records. This section does not mean payments are currently enabled.
