What We Do

FAQ About What We Do

What exactly is Captain’s Sky View?

Captain’s Sky View is an aerial photography brand focused on capturing America from a real aircraft, not drones. We specialize in high-resolution desert landscapes, Western geography, mountain ranges, remote places, historic sites, and geographic features most people never see from the ground.

Where do your aerial photos come from?

Every image comes from flights across the United States, mainly the Western regions:
• Nevada desert
• Mojave
• Death Valley
• Great Basin
• Utah canyons
• Eastern Sierra
• High desert ranges

Additional regions across the U.S. are being added as the library grows.

Do you only photograph the West?

The West is our primary focus right now because the terrain, light, geology, and landforms are unmatched for aerial photography.
But we’re adding more regions, including:

• Alaska
• Rocky Mountains
• Great Plains
• Appalachian / Eastern Mountains
• Gulf Coast
• Great Lakes

Are these drone images?

No. Captain’s Sky View uses manned aircraft flights.
This lets us photograph:
• restricted airspace edges
• high-altitude desert basins
• mountain systems
• national park boundaries
• remote terrain drones can’t reach

The result is wide-angle, high-altitude imagery drones simply cannot capture.

What makes your photos different?

A few big things:

  1. Scale — Aircraft altitude shows entire formations at once.

  2. Geography — You can see erosion patterns, fault lines, ancient lakes, old mining grid systems, and military test structures.

  3. Light — Sunrise and sunset in the desert behave completely differently at 8,000 feet.

  4. Access — Many of these areas aren’t accessible by road and can’t be flown by drone.

  5. Authenticity — No AI manipulation, no fake skies, no composite mountains.

Flights Conducted Under Part 91

All flights are operated as personal flights under 14 CFR Part 91.
These flights occur for the pilot’s own purposes such as training, currency, education, or artistic creation.
The flights would occur regardless of whether a camera is on board.

Compensation Is for Artwork Only

Revenue comes only from the final artistic photographs and prints after the flight, not from the operation of the aircraft.

Customers are not paying for:
